What it is

Both seasons,one system

Heat, cooling and defrost share the same airbox behind the dash, so we check all of it before quoting any of it.

Heat and defrost

The heater core, the blend doors and the defrost cycle that clears a February windshield.

Air conditioning

Compressor, condenser and the sealed refrigerant loop, leak tested with dye and a detector.

Airflow

Blower motors, resistors and cabin filters. Weak airflow is often the cheapest fix on this page.

  • 02AC that cools at highway speed and fades at stoplights
  • 03A windshield that fogs and stays fogged on defrost
  • 04Airflow that only works on some speeds, or clicks behind the dash

Tell us what it's doing

You do not need to know the name of the part. Describe the noise, the feeling or the light, and we will take it from there. Most estimates go out the same business day.

If you would rather talk it through, call (605) 339-9717 and describe what it is doing.

We answer Monday through Friday during shop hours, and we will only use your details to get back to you about your vehicle.

Before you come in

Questions we get about heat and AC

Refrigerant lives in a sealed loop, so a system that wants topping off every year has a leak. We find it with dye and a detector, and fix the loop rather than refilling it on repeat.

Dual zone systems split the airflow with small blend doors, and one of those doors or its actuator is the usual cause. It clicks behind the dash for a reason, and it is a repair rather than a mystery.

More than most people expect. The defrost cycle uses the AC compressor to dry the air, so a healthy AC system is what clears a fogged windshield in February.

It ranges from a cabin filter to a compressor, which is why we diagnose first and call with the number before starting. Ask us and we will give you a range over the phone.
